Efficient extrusion coating: Versatile application options with Lucofin®

In extrusion coating, molten polymer is extruded onto existing sheets or films before it passes through the calender. The starting sheet or film can be considered as a carrier and can be another polymer, cardboard, (non-)woven fabrics, metal foils/sheets or paper.

Alternatively, a multilayer structure can be created by introducing several extrusion-coated layers. Coextrusion can only be used for polymers with similar processing conditions. Extrusion coating is the only option if the processing conditions are different, especially for substrates that are incompatible with other materials such as metals or paper.

Lucofin®: Top performance in extrusion coating

Lucofin® EBA offers outstanding performance in extrusion coating on a wide range of substrates. Whether cardboard, aluminium foils, textiles or plastic films – Lucofin® is the ideal choice for demanding applications. Lucofin® enables extrusion melt temperatures of up to 300 °C, resulting in a significant increase in production output. Excellent adhesion to a wide range of substrates ensures reliable bonding and long-lasting results.

In addition, Lucofin® provides an effective vapour barrier for added protection and safety. Satisfactory stress crack resistance (ESCR) ensures quality over time and ensures that your products meet the highest standards. With Lucofin®, you can rely on a proven solution for extrusion coatings that is versatile and delivers first-class results regardless of the substrate chosen.

Versatile protection and improvement of products with Lucofin® EBA

Lucofin® is widely used in extrusion coating and extrusion lamination on various substrates, including:

  • Cardboard: Improvement of surface properties and protective coatings
  • Aluminium foils: Creation of barrier layers for increased vapour tightness and protection
  • Textiles: Creation of coated fabrics for specialised applications such as water-repellent textiles
  • Plastic films: Adding additional functions such as barrier properties to improve product characteristics
  • Sheets: Creation of coated sheets for specific applications in the construction industry and other sectors
