Efficient extrusion coating: Versatile application options with Lucofin®
In extrusion coating, molten polymer is extruded onto existing sheets or films before it passes through the calender. The starting sheet or film can be considered as a carrier and can be another polymer, cardboard, (non-)woven fabrics, metal foils/sheets or paper.
Alternatively, a multilayer structure can be created by introducing several extrusion-coated layers. Coextrusion can only be used for polymers with similar processing conditions. Extrusion coating is the only option if the processing conditions are different, especially for substrates that are incompatible with other materials such as metals or paper.
