[ LUCOBIT-Partner ] Biggest takeover in the chemical industry
It is the biggest takeover in the chemical industry’s history: Basell and the Lyondell Chemical Company merged in the beginning of 2008 which lead to the formation of the new global company LyondellBasell leading in the fields of polymers, chemicals and fuels.

The headquarters of LyondellBasell Industries are located in Rotterdam (Netherlands). The company reported annual sales of $40 billion and has 15,000 employees worldwide. This new chemical giant has over 60 production sites in 19 countries on five continents and sells its products in over 120 countries.

LyondellBasell is the worldwide leader for the development, production and marketing of polyolefins. Furthermore, they are a pioneer in the fields of propylenoxide and propylene derivatives, an important manufacturer of innovative fuels and the operator of one of the biggest oil refineries in North America. Their wide range of products enables them to take active part in various petrochemistry markets. Oftentimes, the company’s products are basic elements for the production of everyday goods e.g. food packaging, clean fuels, high-quality textiles or medical appliances just as well as for the production of building materials or automobile components.
