[ LUCOBIT-Research ] Well prepared into the future at the location Wesseling

Innovations are vital driving forces for future growth worldwide. In the global competition it is essential to invigorate the market with groundbreaking innovations. The momentum gained from this can last for decades with its driving force being undiminished to this day. More than 40 years after the invention of the globally successful product Lucobit®, the company is ready to say: All clear for the enhanced research. From now on LUCOBIT AG does their research and development at their main headquarters in Wesseling.

The relocation of major parts of the research and development department to the headquarters in Wesseling is one of the most important projects to prepare LUCOBIT AG for the future. For the last 40 years the LUCOBIT research department was situated on the BASF SE premises in Ludwigshafen. Together with the strong departments for production and sales the research and development department is part of the company’s strong foundation. Merging the departments means concentrating their respective strengths thus enabling us to focus even more on our customers’ needs.

State of the art equipment
The new spaces for research and product development in Wesseling contain some 300 m2. – more than twice the space of the premises in Ludwigshafen. Equipped with state of the art technologies using the latest methods for test- and process engineering, LUCOBIT has laid the foundation to independently shape the future of flexible polyolefines, plastics, waxes and bitumen. Apart from the research and development of new materials the R & D department will concentrate on continuously optimizing materials, keeping in line with the requirements of the market and enhancing several mixtures for specific applications.

Technical Center for material testings
Thanks to the new capacities LUCOBIT now has the possibility to test their products in a production line and simulate products for clients in the Technical Center. This is an important step towards optimizing production standards and gaining input about material properties and reactions e.g. of sealing sheeting for roofs or swimming pools. This information can help optimize the product`s applicability following each customer’s requirements thus doing LUCOBIT´s part in the construction of permanently safe and leakproof roofs, tunnels and barrages. The material research at LUCOBIT already combines the knowledge of 40 years of practical experience in the development and production of thermoplastic polyolefins. Moreover, the ongoing dialogue with partners and customers as well as with external consultants and science institutes gives us the chance to resort to an international network of experts when needed. On site, LUCOBIT relies on a competent team of certified experts, which guarantee high quality levels for all LUCOBIT products while working interdisciplinary and application oriented on the solution of highly complex projects. The Technical Center will help prepare LUCOBIT’s business segments - sealing and flexible polymers - for all future challenges. This is how LUCOBIT will continue to be able to offer their customers first-class, innovative products like Lucobit®, Lucolit®, Lucopren®, Lucofin®, Luxbit® and Lucofin®.
