27.10.2008 | Project in India with Lucofin®
With some 1.1 billion citizens india has the second largest population in the world. The country is an attractive location for investors and draws both tradesmen and tourists alike. This is just as valid for Pune, a city some 170 km southeast of Mumbai, situated in the Indian state of Maharashtra and bordering the Deccan plateau. The city and ist approximately 5 million inhabitants is the region’s centre of the IT and automobile market and has a flourishing software and engineering industry. Global corporations like Allianz, Daimler or Volkswagen invest here – especially thanks to the large supply of well-educated academics that excel in the English language.

Due to their Academies and Universities the German business magazin “manager-magazin” called Pune the “Oxford of India”. The Marriott hotel chain has also recognized the potential of India and especially Pune and is planning to build three hotels in this booming city by 2010. An Indian construction firm, which already realised projects for Daimler and German Telekom, could already secure the mega project. In detail, the project includes the 150-room Marriott Courtyard, which was opened in West-Pune in 2008, the JW Marriott Hotel Pune in the luxury category with 250 rooms (completion in 2009) and the Pune Marriott Hotel & Convention Center in the first-class category with 430 rooms (completion in 2010). For the sealing of the flat roofs on the JW Marriott Hotel Pune, the construction firm rely on the light-gray FPO roof- and sealing sheets made from LUCOBIT’s Lucofin®.
